About
Amagansett National Wildlife Refuge features a unique double dune system, a habitat largely lost on Long Island due to development. The refuge was established in 1968 at the site of a former Lifesaving Station to support the national migratory bird management program. Its 36 acres of fragile shore habitat provide critical nesting, foraging, and resting areas for threatened and endangered species such as piping plovers and roseate terns.
