About
Creedman Coulee National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1941 as a Migratory Waterfowl Refuge, consisting of Creedman Reservoir, short-grass prairie, and agricultural land. It provides critical habitat for migrating waterfowl and serves as a rookery for great blue herons and double-crested cormorants. The refuge's history is linked to the Great Depression-era Emergency Relief Act and Works Progress Administration, which focused on water conservation to support wildlife and agriculture.
