Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery, located along beautiful Icicle Creek, is a spectacular location to picnic, observe wildlife, learn about the salmon lifecycle, and enjoy a nature walk. The visitor center is open 7 days a week from 10 AM - 4 PM. You are welcome to visit the hatchery grounds during daylight hours every day of the year. The hatchery hosts a variety of outdoor recreational activities throughout the year, including hatchery tours, special events, horseback rides, winter snowshoe tours, cross country skiing, and fish viewing.
A day pass or season pass for groomed winter trails is required and can be used on the trails at Ski Hill and the Leavenworth Golf Club. Special Use Permits for large groups or commercial events must be applied for through the Visitor Services Manager.

Get Involved
There are many ways to get involved and volunteer. Local volunteers help with spawning, cultivating the native pollinator garden, and improving trails. Services
The hatchery provides salmon production to mitigate for fish losses above Grand Coulee Dam, offering harvest opportunities for sport, tribal, and commercial fisheries. We also provide educational programs, daily weather data collection, and maintain public recreation facilities including a boat launch and trails.
About
Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery serves as the headquarters for the Leavenworth Fisheries Complex and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Established in 1937 to mitigate fish losses from the Grand Coulee Dam, it currently raises 1.2 million spring Chinook salmon annually. The facility manages 180 acres in the Icicle Valley, featuring over 5 miles of public trails and supporting various educational and recreational activities.
