Get Involved
Our approach to conservation is engagement with our community – from private landowners wanting to improve endangered species habitat on their land to non-profits doing on-the-ground work. Partnerships are the foundation of our work – from working with landowners to enhance and restore private lands to partnering with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries and federal agencies to plan conservation across the state.
Services
Our office promotes the conservation and recovery of federally listed endangered and threatened species through activities including identifying species for protection, providing technical assistance for Endangered Species Act (ESA) section 7 consultations, implementing recovery activities, and coordinating habitat conservation plans and candidate conservation agreements.
About
The Louisiana Ecological Services Field Office, established in 1972, strives for ecosystem sustainability through preservation and restoration of essential habitats for Louisiana's fish, wildlife, and plants. The office emphasizes a landscape-scale ecosystem approach to address habitat issues through partnerships with federal, state, and private stakeholders. Their overarching goals focus on protecting and restoring populations of threatened, endangered, and at-risk species, concentrations of migratory birds, and interjurisdictional fisheries.
