About
The National Black-Footed Ferret Conservation Center manages a captive breeding and reintroduction program for a species that was twice thought to be extinct. After 18 survivors were found in Wyoming in 1986, scientists established a foundation for recovery that continues to release ferrets into the wild each year. Currently, approximately 280 ferrets are cared for at captive breeding facilities in northern Colorado and partner locations.
