Northern Alaska Fish and Wildlife Field Office
Our Field Office is located in the Fairbanks Federal Building. Fairbanks is home to over 80 permanent US Fish and Wildlife Service employees and is a gateway to northern National Wildlife Refuges like Arctic, Kaunti, and Yukon Flats.
Utqiaġvik (Barrow) Satellite Office
Our Utqiaġvik Satellite Office was established in 2010 to help increase our understanding of the subsistence needs and cultural values of North Slope residents and to better achieve our mission of working with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. A priority for this office is to continue to improve communication between the Service and local residents and partners on the North Slope.

Services
We provide several specialized services including ESA Section 7 Consultation to help federal agencies meet their responsibilities under the Endangered Species Act, and technical assistance for protecting breeding birds and preventing bird-vessel strikes. Additionally, we offer cost-share funding for streambank and lake shore restoration, and technical and planning assistance through the National Fish Passage Program to reconnect fragmented aquatic habitats.

Based in Fairbanks and the Utqiaġvik Satellite Office, the Northern Alaska Fish and Wildlife Field Office manages conservation efforts across 338 million acres. Their work spans from the Yukon River Delta to the Canadian border and includes the Bering, Chukchi, and Beaufort seas.
