Get Involved
As an office with a large work area, we maximize efforts to collect data on listed and at-risk species by funding research and coordinating on-the-ground conservation efforts with partners. These partners and efforts are critical extensions of our monitoring and field work, and the information collected is essential.
Services
The Sacramento Fish and Wildlife Office implements the Endangered Species Act throughout much of California, working with partners to guide research, develop conservation actions, restore habitat, and recover species through Section 7 consultations, habitat conservation plans, and conservation banking.
About
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Sacramento Fish and Wildlife Office focuses on plant and wildlife conservation across 38 counties in California, covering more than 57,700 square miles. They monitor over 100 listed species in diverse habitats ranging from the Sierra Nevada mountains to the Central Coast. The office emphasizes collaboration with landowners, Tribes, and government agencies to find smart solutions that balance the needs of people and wildlife.
