Wildlife watching

At Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge

OVERVIEW:  The Sacramento NWR provides wonderful wildlife watching opportunities. During the fall and winter, thousands of migratory birds, mostly waterfowl, can be seen feeding and resting along the Auto Tour. During the spring, we begin to draw down the wetland ponds, attracting a variety of shorebirds. Summer time provides ample opportunity to see our more resident wildlife like deer, raccoons, jackrabbits, and river otters.
