About
Grand Junction FWCO is part of a multi-agency effort to restore native fish populations in the upper Colorado River basin. Established in 1979, the office performs research and management to recover four endangered species: razorback sucker, Colorado pikeminnow, humpback chub, and bonytail. It includes the Ouray National Fish Hatchery-Grand Valley Unit, which produces over 20,000 endangered fish annually for release into native habitats.
