Services
The National Fish Passage Program provides financial and technical assistance for projects that improve the ability of fish or other aquatic species to migrate by reconnecting habitat that has been fragmented by a barrier such as a dam or culvert. The National Fish Habitat Partnership is a national investment strategy designed to maximize the impact of conservation dollars on the ground. Funds are leveraged through regional partnerships to address the nation’s biggest fish habitat challenges and projects are identified and completed through technical and planning assistance.
About
The Lander Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office is part of a national network working to conserve fish and aquatic resources by restoring native species and habitats. Since 1941, the office has assisted the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes of the 2.2-million-acre Wind River Reservation. Biologists provide technical assistance, conduct scientific studies, and manage wildlife resources like cutthroat trout, elk, and grizzly bears. Their work focuses on sustainable conservation and maintaining the diverse ecosystems of the Wind River, Owl Creek, and Absaroka ranges.
