Get Involved
Whether you want to further conservation, learn more about nature or share your love of the outdoors, you’ve come to the right place. The New Mexico Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office provides many opportunities for you to help your community and fish and wildlife by doing what you love.
Services
We inventory and monitor aquatic species populations, conduct research into applied conservation science, provide assistance to Tribal fisheries, and provide outreach and education opportunities. Our station’s activities include Pecos and Canadian River fish community monitoring, Rio Grande silvery minnow monitoring, salvage, and augmentation, non-native fish removal, and the implementation of the National Fish Habitat Action Plan.
About
The New Mexico Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office was established in 1985 and works toward the restoration and conservation of aquatic species and habitats across New Mexico and portions of neighboring states. It is part of a national network of field stations that monitors invasive species, protects imperiled wildlife, and evaluates native fish stocks. The office provides technical assistance to 22 federally recognized Tribes and collaborates with partners to solve fishery problems through scientific studies and habitat restoration.
