About
Grulla National Wildlife Refuge was officially established in 1969 when lands were transferred from the Bureau of Land Management. The refuge encompasses 3,236 acres, the majority of which is a salt lake that serves as a protected roost site for lesser sandhill cranes. It also provides high-quality winter habitat for various migratory waterfowl. As part of the National Wildlife Refuge System, it is managed for the benefit of wildlife and habitat conservation.
