Services
About
Obtained by the Service in 1969, Lido Beach Wildlife Management Area was a former Nike missile site located on the bay side of a barrier island in Nassau County. The unit consists of 22 acres of tidal wetland and saltmarsh, providing habitat for a high diversity of shorebirds, wading birds, and wintering waterfowl. Management efforts focus on wetland restoration and invasive species control to protect this important portion of the Hempstead estuary.
