About
Little Sandy National Wildlife Refuge is a privately owned area protected by a conservation easement and managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, but it has no public access. Founded to protect bottomland hardwood forests for resident and migratory birds, the land was originally a hunting and fishing club established in 1907. It became part of the National Wildlife Refuge System in 1986 to preserve its natural values for conservation.
