Wildlife watching
Much like birding on refuges, Stillwater NWR hosts mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and insects as well that have adapted to the demands of the Great Basin high desert. It is interesting to note the animals that blend so well with the landscape and are easily stumbled near to, while other animals starkly contrast their habitat and surprise you from afar.
And on that note, please keep a safe distance away from all wildlife for your safety and theirs, and keep any pets under control as well. You can still enjoy the sights while maintaining distance to observe animals in their natural habitat available here.
Consider these tips from the National Park Service that can help you enjoy observation safely.
