Plan Your Visit

National wildlife refuges can offer a view of some of the most pristine and remote landscapes across the country. When visiting these wild places, please prepare yourself accordingly. Adequate clothing and supplies are essential.

Water levels within Felsenthal NWR can be a deciding factor when planning your trip. Make sure the water is safe for any activities by checking the National Weather Service's website or contact the refuge.

It is also recommended that visitors wear applicable hunter orange while on the refuge during the gun and muzzleloader deer hunts.

Arkansas Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest

Contest Information and More

The Arkansas Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest invites students statewide to demonstrate their artistic talent while deepening their understanding of waterfowl and conservation. This program provides young participants with an opportunity to engage in environmental education through creative expression. We encourage all eligible students to submit their artwork and contribute to the ongoing tradition of promoting wildlife stewardship in Arkansas.

Visitor Services Specialist Amanda Wilkinson uses a 3D model to illustrate how watersheds work to kids. Kids are huddled around a table with the model on it, watching Amanda give the demonstration.
Outdoor learning Adventures

Environmental Education

Refuges provide unique and exciting outdoor classrooms and are excellent locations for hands-on learning activities. Felsenthal welcomes school groups and others interested in environmental education. School field trips and classroom visits are accommodated through tours, hikes, pond studies, games, and talks. The visitor center also has several different exhibits where you can learn about our refuge’s wildlife, habitats, management practices, and history.

To schedule a field trip, contact the Visitor Services Specialist by calling the refuge at (870) 292-3698.
